What is Kindy
Inclusion Service?
DSIDQ’s Kindy Inclusion Service is a free service that offers ongoing consultations to all government-approved kindergartens across Queensland. The aim is to increase the confidence, knowledge, and skills of educators to create inclusive learning environments for children with an intellectual disability or developmental delay (diagnosed or suspected).
Our Kindy Inclusion Consultant supports educators by offering advice, resources, training, and co-planning strategies that promote meaningful participation for all learners.
You can access this service if you:
Are teaching a child with a diagnosis of Down syndrome, developmental delay and/or another intellectual disability
Are teaching a child who is currently being assessed for an intellectual disability or developmental delay
Are seeking professional development on supporting children with intellectual disabilities or developmental delay
What is included?
You will receive:
Free online consultations with our Kindy Inclusion Consultant
Co-constructed goals for each educator
Practical strategies to build an inclusive environment

Free professional development sessions on a range of topics, such as Down syndrome, developmental delay, visual supports, goal setting for young children, and executive functioning skills.
We work with Kindy centres across Queensland via Microsoft Teams/Zoom and offer continued support throughout the calendar year.
