Our 2027 Endless Possibilities Conference theme, Presuming Competence: Seeing Possibilities, Creating Opportunities, reflects a fundamental belief that there are no predetermined limits to what people with disability can learn and do. Every individual, including those with Down syndrome and intellectual disability, can continue to learn, grow, and develop throughout their lives when provided with meaningful opportunities, high expectations, and the appropriate adjustments and supports. 

Presuming competence means starting from the assumption that every student can engage, participate, learn, communicate, and make meaningful progress. When we presume competence, our focus shifts from perceived limitations to possibilities. We recognise strengths, interests, and aspirations, we nurture potential, and we create opportunities for students to participate fully in learning and experience genuine belonging and engagement in school life.
